As thousands of Georgians face uncertainty following the expiration of SNAP benefits on November 1, Open Hand is stepping up to ensure our neighbors don’t face hunger alone. Many in our community, especially those living with serious and chronic illnesses, are feeling the strain of rising grocery prices and reduced access to food assistance.
We stand with partners like the Atlanta Community Food Bank to meet this surge in need. We’ve curated a list of local food resources to help those facing hardship and continue to advocate for lasting solutions, encouraging our supporters to contact their legislators and urge them to protect and expand access to healthy food for all.
And now, thanks to a $72,000 matching gift from Buckhead Church, your generosity can go twice as far to help provide nourishing meals for those who need them most.
Your gift will help us ensure that Georgians in need are empowered with nourishing meals, giving them the peace of mind they deserve so they can focus on feeling better: not putting food on the table. Additionally, through our ongoing partnership with Buckhead Church, we are working diligently to cook and deliver emergency meals to our local community partners and food banks to alleviate the burden they are feeling during this overwhelming time of need.
Every gift you give today will be matched dollar-for-dollar, helping us deliver 100,000 meals to neighbors in need by the end of 2025 – our highest goal ever. Together, we can extend our reach to local food banks, support families in crisis, and ensure that every meal we deliver sustains both health and hope.
Since 1988, Open Hand has been there for our community in times of crisis. With your support, we will continue to make sure every Georgian has access not just to food, but to nutritious meals that heal, comfort, and connect us all.
With Gratitude,
Matthew Pieper
